This email arrived this morning... addressed to me and about 90 others. I don't think he'll mind me sharing it.
Well, it was a decade ago today that the Chicago Fire Major League Soccer team was ignited. Thanks to everyone on this recipient list and many who are not, the team continues to burn bright. Four US Open Cups, several Eastern, Central and Western Conference titles, a Supporters Shield, an MLS Cup, a rabid fan base and its own soccer stadium….not a bad first decade. Here’s to many more decades and titles for our Chicago Fire!
A salute to those who helped build the Fire and those who continue to stoke it.
All my best,
peter
What can I say? Classy. Thanks Peter. To any Fire fans or former staff who happen to drop by here in the coming days, here are some 1997-98 trivia questions. Post your answers below:
1) Which Fire individual was introduced at Planet Hollywood?
2) Where was Bob Bradley introduced to the media?
3) Before the Fire had an office in Chicago, where was Peter Wilt taking phone calls?
4) What was the most awkward question then-president Bob Sanderman asked then-GM candidate Peter Wilt in an elevator?
5) Which player trade was completed over the phone during a pregame Milwaukee Brewers' tailgate?
6) Who suffered the worst injury in the Fire's post-game celebration at MLS Cup in the Rose Bowl?
7) Which Sun-Times contest winner DIDN'T get into the post-game celebration?
8) What was the Fire's late-season, bilingual marketing slogan emblazoned on staff tshirts?
9) In the event of an office evacuation at 980 N. Michigan, what was the designated meeting point for Fire staff?
10) OK, not a 1998 question, but still in the PB (pre-Beckham) days, how many fans did the Bulgarian priest PROMISE that Hristo Stoitchkov would deliver to every Fire game? Who was the account rep?

Some tough ones there...
1.Peter Nowak -
2.Nike Town
3.Club Lago, I'd like to think that anyway.
4. Tough, after how many drinks? How about 'Can you help my daughter with a job?' But I'm thinking its much worse than that.
5. Brian Bates?
6. Garnett heart attack.
7. No idea, not sure I remember getting in.
8. Yikes...En Fuego...my minds full of Ole stuff from later years.
9. You'll be glad to know it's still the meeting place for Fire alumni about every 3-6 months - Brehon and I still go now and then to make sure everythings running correctly.
10. 50,000 with the press event in the Bears Den.
No questions about Bombaleo at Deja Vu on Thursday nights? Or that hard rock band Boston? Or the first of several illegal Canadian interns?

Some great questions.....
1. Peter Nowak - What professional boxer did show up at an after-game party at Planet Hollywood?
2. The correct answer is Niketown, but which Fire employee set the press conference up becasue he used to work there?
6. Dan never made it to the post-game celebration. Elizabeth Low had the Rothenberg Trophy dropped on her shoulder.
7. I was only concerned about myself getting in to the post-game party.
8. No idea- I am going with En Fuego as well.
9. Brehon
10. 3,000 Bulgarians to each game- Stevie D would be the rep. Wasn't that priest involved in the truck license scandal?

It isn't what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about. Do you agree?
