I loved Jon Krakauer's Where Men Will Win Glory - The Odyssey of Pat Tillman One of my favorite reads in ages. Go get a copy of it.
Then again, it's might not be as good as Born to Run by an equally talented Chris McDougal. You don't have to like to run to be fascinated by this tall-tale-like true story of Mexico's reclusive Tarahumara tribe - the greatest runners in the world?
I'm also working on Sixty Feet, Six Inches by Bob Gibson & Reggie Jackson. Thumbs up for Passion of the Vine, wine importer Sergio Esposito's account of his life with grapes. As for Gary Myers The Catch - One Play, Two Dynasties and the Game that Change the NFL, not so much. You better be a serious 49ers' fans to make it through this one. It's an example of how mediocre writing can underwhelm a transcendent sporting event.
It's been a prolific month of reading. What do you recommend I take on my next trip?
I have just started it, but am already enjoying "Froth!: The Science of Beer" by Mark Denny. I do work for the publisher, but my love of suds, not my paycheck, has me most interested in it.
